Privacy Policy
Overview
IPPortTest.com ("we", "us", or "our") is a free network diagnostics tool that allows users to test port reachability, check SSL certificates, inspect HTTP responses, and scan local network devices. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how data flows through our service.
The short version: We do not sell your data. We do not store your IP address in a database. Port test results are never logged. We serve ads via Google AdSense which has its own data practices described below.
Information We Collect
Automatically Collected
When you visit IPPortTest.com, our web server (Apache on Vultr) may temporarily log standard HTTP access data including:
- Your public IP address
- The page or file requested
- Date and time of the request
- Browser type and operating system (user agent string)
- HTTP response code
These server access logs are used solely for security monitoring and server maintenance. They are not shared with third parties and are rotated regularly.
IP Geolocation Lookup
When you load the homepage, our server queries the ip-api.com geolocation service on your behalf to display your approximate location, ISP, and timezone. Your IP address is sent to ip-api.com's servers for this lookup. We do not store the result.
Information You Provide
When using the port tester, you may enter IP addresses or hostnames as test targets. These are used only to perform the requested test and are never stored, logged, or associated with your identity.
How We Use Your Information
| Data | Purpose | Stored? |
|---|---|---|
| Your public IP | Display in network info panel, perform WAN port tests | No |
| Test target IPs | Execute TCP probe via probe.php | No |
| Geolocation data | Display city, country, ISP, timezone on page | No |
| Server access logs | Security monitoring, error diagnosis | Temporary |
| Browser / OS info | Display in network info panel (client-side only) | No |
We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the diagnostic service you requested.
Third-Party Services
IPPortTest.com uses the following third-party services:
- ip-api.com — Geolocation lookup performed server-side. See their privacy policy.
- Google AdSense — Advertising network. See section 5 below and Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — Font files loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log font requests. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
- Cloudflare — Used for latency measurement only (a no-cors request to cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace). No personal data is transmitted.
- Vultr — Our hosting provider. See Vultr's privacy policy.
Google Ads & Cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. Google AdSense may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to IPPortTest.com and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
We do not have access to or control over cookies placed by Google. For more information about how Google collects and uses data, please review:
Cookie notice: Beyond Google AdSense cookies, IPPortTest.com itself does not set any first-party cookies, does not use local storage for tracking, and does not use session identifiers.
LAN & WAN Test Data
WAN Tests
When you perform a WAN port test, ICMP ping, HTTP check, or SSL certificate check, the target IP address or hostname you entered is sent to our server via probe.php. Our server then makes the connection to that target on your behalf and returns the result. The target address is not logged or stored.
Private IP ranges (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x, etc.) are explicitly blocked by our server to prevent abuse.
LAN Tests
LAN tests (port scan, gateway detection, individual port probes) run entirely within your browser using WebSocket and Fetch APIs. No LAN IP addresses, scan results, or local network information is transmitted to our server. Everything stays on your device.
Data Retention
We do not maintain a database of user information. Apache access logs on our server are retained for a maximum of 14 days for security purposes and then deleted automatically via log rotation. No test results, IP addresses, or session data is retained beyond the duration of your browser session.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws including:
- GDPR (EU/EEA): Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing.
- CCPA (California): Right to know, delete, and opt-out of sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- Other jurisdictions: We respect applicable local privacy laws.
Since we do not maintain a persistent database of your personal information, most data subject requests can be fulfilled by confirming that we hold no data about you. To make a request, contact us at the address in section 12.
Security
IPPortTest.com is served exclusively over HTTPS with a valid TLS certificate issued by Let's Encrypt. We take reasonable technical measures to protect our server and the data that passes through it, including:
- HTTPS enforcement with HSTS headers
- Input validation and IP range blocking in probe.php
- Regular server updates and security patches
- No storage of sensitive user data
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. However, because we do not store personal data, the risk of a data breach affecting you is minimal.
Children's Privacy
IPPortTest.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
